Another update on me :)

I started feeling really weak and tired on Monday.  I ended up staying home all day.  Monday night, I slept almost 12 hours, but I was still so tired and weak.  I dozed off for a second while driving to work, so I turned around and came back and just rested all day.  I napped for several hours, and I still felt the same, so I called my MD's office.  They had me come in, and the latest diagnosis is post viral asthmatic bronchitis, for which they prescribed me prednisone.

Prednisone has many wonderful side effects including:  increased appetite, weight gain and bloating.  Perfect!  :)  Good thing, because the weight was just falling off me too quickly.  I needed something to slow it down a bit more.  LOL.

I will be on the Prednisone for 9 days, and I'm just going to do what I can in the mean time.   I will continue to avoid sodium as much as possible, and I'll stay well hydrated.  I'm not overly worried about the increased appetite, because when I eat, I get full pretty quickly.

I went for PT today, and she gave me a pretty good workout - not calorie wise, but healing wise.  I'm sore.  She asked me not to work out if at all possible.  She wants to know if the activity we did today is hurting me or not, and if I work out today, she won't know which to blame.  Seeing as though I'm still sick, and it's best, I agreed, but I *really* can't wait to start working out.  I feel like I'm sitting on my hands for this competition.

Also, I decided I'm going to do my own mini triathlon each week until I compete.  I'll start off just going whatever distance I can, but working my way up to my competition length and beyond.  That way, by the time I do the official triathlon, I should be all set.  I really want to take my first try at a tri this Saturday, but it all depends on my health.

I found out another friend of mine is training for a sprint triatlon this year, so I'm excited about that.  She's on the west coast, so we won't be doing one together, but it will be fun to see how her training goes.  Of course, she's a marathon runner, so this will be a very different journey for her than it will be for me.  :)

If you have the physical ability to exercise, please do.  It's really frustrating to be benched when you really want to get your body moving!

Don't think about how you can exercise or the contest or anything but getting well.
