Training update

As I mentioned, I was sluggo on Saturday, so I didn't train at all.  On Sunday, I had lots and lots to do, and when I finally finished all of my cleaning, homework, cooking, etc..., I headed out to the pool around 6PM.  My plan was to do the 1/4 mile swim, and then head over to the gym to do some biking and walking/jogging.

I had a GREAT swim.  My time seemed to be about the same, around 13 or 14 minutes, it's hard to tell for sure on the clock, but I felt awesome after.  The pool isn't ideal.  It's way too warm both in the pool and in the room, but I feel like the warmer I am, the more calories I'll burn.  That may just be my optimistic spin, but I'm going with it.

After my swim, I rushed over to the gym, and it was closed!  Grrrr.   It's open 24x7 Monday - Friday, but apparently it closes at 7PM on Saturday and Sunday nights.  I was so bummed out, but I headed home.  Had I known, I would have swam a 1/2 mile.

This morning, I had physical therapy scheduled for 9AM, so I went to the gym before that.  I did 5 miles on the bike (level 1 because I'm being very careful with my knee), and it took me 16 minutes, so I'm getting faster!  Then I headed over to the treadmill where I did 3/4 of a mile, which took 13 minutes - NOT impressive.  LOL.  Most of the time on the treadmill, I kept it on speed 3 because I'm being very careful, but I did go up to 5 and 6 a few times just to get my heart pumping.

Since speed 3 is very slow, I danced while I was walking - oh yeah I did.  I'm sure I was quite a sight, but I don't care.  My body isn't going to get skinny on it's own, so I'm doing what I can.

At physical therapy today, the PT said I'm getting better.  Good news!  I have been doing my exercises daily, and I've been very careful at the gym while still trying to train for the triathlon and lose weight.  She did a bunch of balancing exercises with me today, and she said I have extremely good balance.  That's a good thing for injury prevention and overall wellness, so I'm glad about that.  I've always had good balance.  I'm a big girl, but I'm actually on the graceful side...as funny as that sounds if you know me.

She also called me the energizer bunny.  I just keep going and going and going.  LOL.  I like to exercise, and I like to push myself.  I did another mile on the bike at PT today, so I have just over 30 minutes of exercise in today.  I'm planning to volunteer at the phone banks tonight for the senate race in MA, but if I'm not completely wiped out after that, I'm hoping to go to the pool as well.
